The Problem

Professional expertise is one of the most valuable resources that never gets volunteered. People donate money, time at shelters, or physical labour — but rarely their actual professional skill. A product designer doesn't volunteer product design. A lawyer doesn't volunteer legal counsel. The skills that could have the most impact stay locked behind hourly rates.

Meanwhile, non-profits and individuals with no budget are left with DIY tools or nothing at all. A local charity needs a proper brand identity. A first-generation founder needs product strategy. The gap isn't willingness — it's infrastructure. There's no simple way to match professionals who have spare hours with people who genuinely need what they do.

My Role

This is a personal concept born from practice — as a product designer, I've provided free design work to individuals and non-profits who couldn't afford it. Sharetime formalizes that into a platform.

I'm leading the full product design process: research into volunteering behavior and motivation, service design for the matching model, and interface design for both the professional and requester sides. The core design challenge is making the exchange feel valuable for both parties — respecting the professional's time while keeping the barrier to ask for help genuinely low.
